Discover MDT watchmaking
At MaisonDuTemps, we have always sought to offer our customers the best at the best price. The watches in our first collections were equipped with Seagull TY2809 skeleton movements for several reasons. First of all, skeleton movements are rare, and finding one that combines functionality, attractive aesthetics, and the right dimensions is no easy task. Fortunately, Seagull, one of the world's leading manufacturers, was able to meet our needs.
The Seagull movement has proven itself in our MTAlpha collections (no longer available) as well as in the MTBeta Skeleton and MTBeta2.0 collections. However, although these Chinese movements have proven their worth, and despite the fact that they are no cheaper than Miyota movements, they still have a bad reputation among some watch enthusiasts. That is why we have decided to equip our watches with mechanisms from the Japanese manufacturer Miyota.
Today, we want to offer our customers what they want, provided it meets our quality criteria. For example, we have launched a skeleton automatic men's watch model, the MTZeta Skeleton, equipped with a Miyota movement. Although the skeleton finish is less attractive in Miyota than in Seagull, the mechanism offered more precise adjustment, which led to our choice in favor of Miyota. This choice satisfied both our customers who already owned aSeagull skeleton watch and new customers looking for a Japanese skeleton model.
Miyota mechanical movement
Miyota Automatic Movement
Let's talk about Miyota automatic mechanisms, as we often hear about them in consumer requirements, but let's find out why.
Miyota mechanisms have this reputation because they have inherited the high standards of their Japanese origins. This is evident in their operation, the durability of the mechanisms, the ease with which they can be serviced, and also in their hyper-precise adjustment.
But we can also talk about their aesthetics. They have also inherited a minimalist style, often with few details or finishes for classic mechanisms. However, they have the distinctive feature of offering a perceived value of extremely high quality. Nevertheless, we can observe certain more elaborate mechanisms such as the 8N24 skeleton or the 8215 open heart, which offer more sophisticated finishes, such as chamfering or finishes on the bridges specific to Miyota.
But where does this reputation come from? The reputation of Miyota mechanisms stems from several different factors, all of which are reliable.
Firstly, for decades we have seen the rise of certain affordable Japanese watch brands, such as Seiko, Citizen, and Orient. These brands have succeeded in proving the quality of Japanese watchmaking through several different mechanisms.
We have also seen the rise of certain luxury brands such as Grand Seiko, offering watchmaking quality comparable to that of the leading Swiss manufacturers.
That's why, at HouseDuTempsWe have now decided to equip our watches with Japanese mechanisms in order to meet our customers' demands and, at the same time, to demonstrate our move upmarket, offering watches of exceptional quality at an unbeatable price.

Seagull mechanical movement
Seagull Movement
HouseDuTemps and automatic mechanisms Skeleton Seagull, a story that has the taste of victory. Indeed, as explained previously, we chose to equip our first collections with an automatic mechanism. skeleton Seagull because it met all of our specifications, such as: aesthetic finish, adjustment, power reserve, and above all, the opinion of customers who were delighted.
Seagull, renowned as the world's largest manufacturer of watch movements, producing hundreds of thousands of movements per year. Of course, they do not exclusively produce mechanical movements, but also a large number of quartz movements.
In any case, Seagull holds an important place in watchmaking. Although its reputation is sometimes tarnished by the fact that it is a Chinese manufacturer, Seagull has made great strides in the design of its watches.
We can see many brands equipping their mechanical watches, and even chronograph watches, with Seagull mechanisms, such as Pierre Lanier, Seagull 1963, Beijingwatches, and others.
Despite numerous developments on their part, and above all proposals for high-quality mechanisms, MaisonDuTemps now aims to produce watches based on the requests and needs of our customers. As such, we will now be setting aside Miyota mechanisms for our new creations, unless they offer the perfect product in their range that we are looking to integrate into our watches.

Quartz mechanisms
Miyota Quartz Movement
Watchmaking is a passion that can appeal to all audiences, meet all demands and needs, and fortunately, suit all budgets. It is for all the reasons mentioned above that quartz watches exist.
The Quartz may be the enemy of some enthusiasts of automatic mechanisms who consider quartz to be low-end, uninteresting, or for other reasons of their own. However, at HouseDuTemps, we firmly believe that the Quartz is a safe bet, which is why quartz has enjoyed such success in the 1980s, when all manufacturers wanted to switch from automatic watches to quartz watches. For example: Rolex with their sublime Oyster Quartz, or even Audemars Piguet with their Royal Oak Quartz.
We know this and are the first to say it: quartz is the most reliable mechanism in the world, with only a few seconds of deviation per year, a power reserve of several years (depending on the battery and mechanism), and finally, it is a robust mechanism that does not magnetize and has little risk of a broken axle or pivot.
Since quartz mechanisms are very thin, this allows us to create thinner, smaller watches. Quartz also gives us access to numerous technical complications, as it is easy and inexpensive to add a complication to a quartz mechanism, such as a chronograph, moon phase, or even a date complication. Thanks to these very low-cost mechanisms, we are able to offer these products in our range, giving young enthusiasts or enthusiasts who do not have an unlimited budget to spend on a watch the opportunity to purchase a watch with a complication at an affordable price.
AtMaisonDuTemps, we have once again chosen to place our trust in Miyota to supply the movements for our quartz watches. To date, we have only two quartz collections: the MTGamma collection and the MTGamma Chronograph collection.
The art of time according to Maison du Temps
Behind every timepiece lies a story of precision, craftsmanship, and passion. Whether it's an automatic watch with a fluid movement or a chronograph designed for performance, or a skeleton watch revealing the beauty of its mechanism, each creation reflects a unique vision of time.
The men's watch collection perfectly illustrates this philosophy: elegant, assertive, sometimes daring, but always faithful to the brand's watchmaking DNA.
At Maison du Temps, we consider watches not as mere accessories, but as pieces with character—an extension of the style, movement, and personality of the wearer.
